Conditions this week keep getting better and better, 20 inches of new snow has made the mtn a winter wonderland. Ski Patrol dropped a bunch of ropes today and the snowmakers continue to pump out the snow.
Partly sunny, temps in the 20's and just a little breezy, conditions today were quite good, the groomers did an amazing job, Sluice Was open and groomed, decent but could use another groom. Skidder was amazing, ungroomed and full of fresh snow from the guns. Tote, Kings, and Hayburner were firm but really good. Snowmaking today on Narrow Gauge and Skidder and will be moving to Whiffletree tonight. Bullwinkles opens tomorrow
Its was a sunny day with temps in the low 30's. snowmaking has shut down while it warms up but they have done an amazing job. Skidder and Sluice were ungroomed a bit firm but still quite good. Tote, Kings and Hayburner were amazing.
Today was a good day, the snowmakers and groomers have outdone themselves, Sluice and Skidder were both ungroomed and amazing, the guns shut down before the mtn opened, did several laps down both skidder and sluice and took a run down tote road around 10 and was surprised it wasn't skied off yet. the Guns stayed on Gondi ext all day and will continue tonight as well as tote ext and around Bullwinkles. Superquad, Skyline, Skidway and DRC ran today, no wind and temps in the high 20's low 30's
The beach area has been repainted and more flowers have been planted, a fence was added around everything and a new deck has been added to the Comp Center.
A rainy stormy monday, the skys cleared up for a few hours so decided to take a quick trip to Poplar stream falls. Drove up the Carriage road about 2 1/2 miles to the service entrance to the hut, park and walk by the gate and over the bridge and follow the trail, its about 1/2 mile to Poplar Stream Falls. Poplar Brook Falls is right at the Bridge.
May 24th. Worked in the morning and jumped in my buddys truck around noon. The Drive up Mt Washington is always amazing. The Snowfields are so fun, drive to the top and its a short walk to the snow.
Saturday morning i got to the mtn around 10:30, decided to hike up Candyside and Straight up Skidder. Not the best idea, my friends went up binder and we got there at the same time and i left 20 minutes earlier, Lots of postholing going up. Skidder was amazing, snow was soft and corny, only one patch of dirt we had to ski across. At the bottom of skidder we walked over to Candyside and Skied the whole way down to within sight of the parking lot. Well Worth it, such a great adventure, Tucks and The Big K soon
Conditions today were very very springlike, the snow is melting fast, Sluice wasn't to bad once you got below the top part, Spillway is really thin, there will be lots of bare patches by tomorrow. Comp Hill and Skidder are still mostly covered. Double Bitter is quite patchy and thin. Lower Winters way, and Candyside are still covered side to side. Temps hovering around 70, there was a bit of a breeze. Superquad and Skyline are still running till the end. Mtn to Mug is sunday afternoon with music at the Rack with Mason Strunk
Didn't ski today, went for a Hike instead. Destination was Poplar stream falls, but due to the foot bridge by the falls being out, didn't quite make it there. the first half the trail is very wet and gets snowy the further you go up, waist deep in places. hope to get back out there soon, just have to go a different route.
The Fog and drizzle has taken a toll on the snowpack, but there is still a lot of snow. The King pine area is still skiing great, Ripsaw is starting to fall apart but its still ok, Be careful on Haulback as there are many crevasses. Kings, Hayburner, Sluice, Spillway, and many other trails still have a great base. Superquad and Skyline are Open till Monday Closing day
The Mountain is still covered in snow and the coverage is amazing, Ripsaw to West Mtn, there are some bare spots to watch out for, but the only "walking" is the end of cross haul. Ripsaw, Bubblecuffer and Winters Way are still Buried. Foggy and rainy today so I didn't ski but ill be out tomorrow. The Superquad and Skyline are running until Monday May 1st Currently the only food service available is The Widowmaker, the Bag, Java Joes, and Slopeside Provisions. Closing day is May 1st
Drove out to Myers Beach, the road isn't too bad, you have to park and walk exactly 1 mile away as the is still covered in snow, but should be melted out soon.
